Amtrak wire issues cause day of problems for NJ Transit commuters

Commuters riding NJ Transit and Amtrak trains to work after a long holiday weekend were hit with a double whammy Monday from Amtrak wire problems in the morning that continued to complicate the commute in the evening.
NJ Transit reported delays and train cancellations on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines Monday afternoon, citing “Amtrak overhead wire issues” near Newark Penn Station, according to the agency’s website.
NJ Transit rail tickets were being cross honored on NJ Transit and private carrier buses and by PATH the the 33rd Street, Newark Penn and Hoboken Terminal stations.
